Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. It is a mobile operating system running on the Linux kernel. It allows developers to write managed code in the Java language and controlling the devices via Google-developed Java libraries.


Recently Google announced to make Android mobile operating system for enterprise users with more accessible and functional. “T Mobile” is the company has launched phones on Android system firstly. Verizon wireless, Sprint Nextel, Cellular South will join with T Mobile to make Android operating system launched in mobile devices.

The official 1.5 update for Android was released on 30 April 2009. There are several features such as:

  • Uploading pictures to Picasa directly from the phone and videos to YouTube
  • Ability to automatically connect to a Bluetooth headset within a certain distance
  • Ability to record and watch videos with the camcorder mode
  • A new soft keyboard with an “Autocomplete” feature
  • Animations between screens
  • Expanded ability of Copy and Paste to include web pages.
  • New widgets and folders that can populate the desktop
