SOA is considered as latest trend for architectures. Architects try to add some flavor of SOA some where in their architecture. If Service Oriented Architecture is used in the a place where it is not really required. Then the application is going to have problem with its performance. In SOA, services are decoupled and the developer will get the freedom to take care only of his part.

SOA is going to create unwanted latency issues, if you are not properly identifying the services.

Why the architects are Selecting an architecture which is more complex?

Customers, they want their architecture to support all features and may be they want some thing they are not really lookking into. So architects are forced to create some complex architecture which the customer is not going to understand.
